Four UCL Engineering Staff honoured by the Royal Academy of Engineering

Jane ButlerCongratulations to UCL Engineering Vice Dean (Enterprise) Jane Butler,  Professor Gary Lye, Head of Department for Biochemical Engineering and Professor Peter O’Hearn of UCL Computer Science who have been elected as fellows to the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Renowned engineers from across the country are elected to the Academy in recognition of their outstanding and continuing contributions to the profession and its great to have three new fellows from UCL Engineering

Professor Dame Ann Dowling OM DBE FREng FRS, President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, said: “For 40 years the Academy has gathered the wisdom, ingenuity and expertise of the nation’s finest engineers to advance and promote excellence in the profession. I am delighted to welcome to our Fellowship more of today’s very best engineering minds.”

In addition to this, Dr Paul Shearing of UCL Chemical Engineering has been named as one of the RAEng’s Young Engineers of the Year. The awards reward early career researchers who have made a  major impact in their respective fields and were awarded in a ceremony in London this summer.
