CPD – Skills and Strategies for Community Engagement

The EngEx is holding a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course 5th – 8th March, 2018. We are pleased to offer our well-established 1-day training on practical skills for working with communities, as well as a new option to attend an additional 3 days of training, to learn about strategies  for setting up a community engagement hub at your own institution.

You are welcome to take Part 1, Part 2, or all four days of training. More information can be found here.

Overview

Day 1: Working with Communities – our standard 1-day short course for engineers, built environment professionals and graduate students. See CPD page for details.

Day 2: The Engineering Exchange (principles, theories and core activities); Site visit to community based project in London.

Day 3: Project management, protocols and evaluation methods; Community outreach and recruitment; Site visit to infrastructure project in London.

Day 4: Navigating the institution (internal stakeholders, funding, communication); Next steps for your work.

Entry requirements

This training is for anyone who needs to engage local communities and users in their professional practices and/or research. There are no formal entry requirements. You don’t need any previous experience working with communities to take this course.

Fees and booking

The rate is £300 per day. This includes access to online learning resources, lunch and refreshments. A 10% discount is automatically applied when booking all 4 days. If you are a student, contact us about receiving additional discounts: engex (at ) ucl.ac.uk
