The last month feels like it’s been a whirlwind of excitement for all members of the current EWB-UCL Committee. It all began with departmental talks during Freshers Week where we attended many different departments activities and introduced those students to the work of EWB-UCL and highlighted how they too have the opportunity to be involved in changing the World. If you listened to one of these talks, thank you very much for giving us your time and being so attentive!
Next was the Freshers Fair on the 3rd/4th October. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who came and spoke to us about what we do and how they could get involved – it was truly fantastic! The weekend closed with over 400 people having signed up to our mailing list, what amazing interest!
Now it was time to meet all those interested in EWB-UCL and for this we hosted a variety of events: a Pub Quiz held on the 6th October, a trip to a Comedy Club on the 13th October and on the 15th our first seminar of the year the ‘Who, What and How of EWB-UCL’.
Thank you once again to everybody who came along to these events it was fantastic to meet so many people interested what we do. For anyone who couldn’t attend the event or would just like to look at the information again you can email us to gain access to the powerpoint slides from the ‘Who, What and How of EWB-UCL’
We hope that you enjoyed the events and got to ask any questions you had, if you didn’t then please don’t hesitate to email us: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please remember that the applications deadline for committee, project teams and outreach positions is midnight on the 18th October – that is this Sunday! All of the information that you need for applying can be found here.
Do also remember that being part of the society doesn’t just mean being part of a Project, Outreach or on the Committee. If you are short of time to commit to one of these positions but still want to contribute to the society that is fantastic and there is ample opportunity for everyone!
You could help for a few hours at one of our cupcake sales or other events, use your creative skills to help us create marketing materials (posters, film-making – the opportunities are endless) or maybe IT is your expert field? We’re always looking for someone to help us out with our website! Also, don’t forget the number of events and trips that we run throughout the year, all have a focus on engineering, sustainability and our World and by being a part of the society you will have exclusive access to them.
Finally, please remember that to be a part of EWB-UCL and most importantly to apply for a position you must be a member of the society. This only costs £2 and is very easy to do. This is the link to do so and the monies received from membership payments help to subsidise a lot of the events that we hold with the aim of ensuring the cost to you is minimal.
