Opting in: Engineering Exchange and the new data protection laws

21 March 2018

If you want to continue receiving EngEx newsletters and/or event notification emails, you need to take action to opt in! If you opt in, you can opt out again at any time by emailing us.

This is because from 25th May 2018, there will be more stringent laws in the UK to regulate how we are legally permitted to communicate with you.

Opting in is easy. You just need to email the Engineering Exchange (ku.ca1527067188.lcu@1527067188xegne1527067188) stating which of our communications you wish to receive. I suggest the following (feel free to copy and paste):

‘I wish to receive newsletters and events notifications from the Engineering Exchange. I consent to my full name and email address being held by the Engineering Exchange for this purpose. Sincerely, [your name]’.

If you choose not to opt in, you will no longer receive email communications from the Engineering Exchange after 25th May 2018. You are still welcome to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, where we will also post events notifications.

You can read about UCL’s approach to data protection here, or more about the new laws on the Information Commissioner’s Office website here. During the transition, we will aim to make our communication plans as transparent and navigable as possible. Please bear with us as things evolve.

Feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss further.
