Extraordinary advances in the life sciences have great potential to improve our quality of life through better medicines and a cleaner environment. Biochemical Engineering provides the foundations for translating such exciting new discoveries into products and processes for improved health and wealth creation. It also offers rewarding careers for those with the necessary skills.
At UCL, we offer education for undergraduates, postgraduates and industry professionals in our top-ranked department. We also offer information for teachers wanting to find out more about Biochemical Engineering and the opportunities it can bring to students. Staff are engaged in cutting-edge research, both within the Department and as part of a number of European and international collaborations. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise 75% of Academic Staff were rated as “World Leading” or “Internationally Excellent”.
We particularly welcome contact from our alumni, many of whom have continued to help pioneer the discipline either at UCL or around the world. If you are an alumnus of the Department or have participated in the MBI® Training Programme then you may wish to join the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering Network group on the professional networking site LinkedIN.
Some of the undergraduate programmes in this department follow an Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP) Structure.
