Multiphase Flow Lab

The lab has two pilot scale flow facilities for the study of oil-water flows relevant to oil and gas industries. The facilities include separators, storage tanks for the fluids and test sections made of 15 meters long (37 mm ID) and 8 meters long (26 mm ID) transparent acrylic or steel pipes. LB21a has been specifically designed to enable the use of advanced laser based flow techniques such as planar laser induced fluorescent (PLIF) and particle image velocimetry (PIV). Additional instrumentation includes tomographic (ERT/ECT), conductance sensors and high speed cameras.
